The Woodlands Writers' Guild is a non-profit writers' organization dedicated to the advancement of each individual member's writing through mutual cooperation and critique. The Woodlands Writers' Guild was formed in the Fall of 1990 by Linda Alexander, Patsy Burk, Wanda Dionne and Jimmie Radliff, writing enthusiasts who felt there was a need for a writers' critique group in North Houston. It has grown into a well respected literary club with many published members. It is a fun group for young and old alike who enjoy the camaraderie and inspiration provided by fellow writers. WWG CRITIQUE GUIDELINES

  1. There will be no more than five readers per table. With our current population, we are unable to sort tables according to genre.
  2. Each table will have a moderator to organize readers and ensure that each listener has an opportunity to comment on the work in a timely fashion.
  3. To ensure optimum benefit in the allotted time, attendees should refrain from social chatter and focus on the material being presented.
  4. Readers are to bring a minimum of six copies in the following format: no more than ten double spaced pages in 12 point Courier or Times New Roman.
  5. Readers should give a brief introduction to their material and describe the kind of critique they are looking for: point of view, plot, etc.
  6. Listeners should offer courteous, constructive comments focused on elements requested by the reader.
  7. Readers should remain silent while receiving feedback. Readers should not defend their work, but if a clarification is deemed absolutely necessary, further discussion can be followed up by email between the interested parties.
  8. The Golden Rule should be observed throughout each meeting by readers and listeners alike.
